What is Jumble?
Simply put, Jumble is a tool for finding tracks that mix well with other tracks. Additionally, Jumble provides meaningful attributes of a track, such as BPM, key, and many other audio features. Although Jumble is geared towards DJs and producers, it can be used for an array of purposes, such as making playlists of songs with similar BPMs for workouts. To get started, just search for a track or artist in the search bar above.
How does it work?
Jumble uses Spotify's Web API to provide a list of harmonic track recommendations based on factors such as BPM, key, and genre. These recommendations are then sorted and colored based on their mixability. A key to these color mappings has been provided below.
BPM | Key | |
---|---|---|
Green | Difference of 0 - 3 BPM | The same key as the original or it's relative key |
Light Green | Difference of 3 - 6 BPM | Adjacent or diagonal to the original key |
If you are at all confused by the descriptions above it is highly recommended you read this informative article, What is Harmonic Mixing, provided by musician/developer Nikhil Rajavasireddy. This article explains everything you need to know about harmonic mixing, the circle of fifths, and how they relate to a track's mixability.
What do the numbers mean?
